KDE 3.5 default artwork

With KDE 3.5 just around the corner it seems like a good time to discuss the look and feel of the default artwork.

Should we experiment before 4.0 comes out and try some new colors or should we continue to refine our blue look?

Some people might be slow to adopt 4.0 so KDE 3.5 might be on peoples desktop for a while. I think it is important to make this release look really polished. It would be nice to have a unified look with our default wallpaper, splash screen and about pages.

We are discussing this here and today on the #kde-artists channel on irc.freenode.org. Please feel free to voice your option.

I like blue as a theme so refine that. But what you could do is add a lot more theme manager themes because the current collection do need improvement. Would be nice to have an XP and a Mac theme for example.

from a branding perspective, i don't think it's a good idea to stray too far from the blues. they are a signature at this point. refinement would be great, more radical departures can and should be saved for kde4. patience is a virtue ;)

i disagree.. i think the blues ate quite winxp and definately not branding for kde at all.. i think we should use green, its a much nicer colour anyway! (trees use it, and konqi) have you seen how much better kde looks in green?

Meh, pink is the color KDE needs to be!

I somewhat agree whit the other anonymous, as I kind of like green:-) But with all the blue icons and such perhaps it's not such a good idea. Regardless it had been nice to have green versions of those blue KDE wallpapers, matching the Point Reyes Green color scheme.

My thoughts are at the same place as rnd and aseigo. Blue is nice. Its working well, and perhaps with more refinement it can smoother. For instance, a few icons aren't available in larger sizes and some icons would look better if they fit the blue theme (perhaps konsole could have a blue screen?). Also, in order for KDE to have wider adoption its good to keep a somewhat similar theme as default to minimize confusion.

Just my thoughts - vlad
